About the Private English Teacher Tel - 07960350985

My name is Douglas Papworth and I was born and raised in London. I am blessed to have a Brazilian wife and two daughters, and we are a bilingual family. My experiences living in a multilingual household and immersing myself in Brazilian culture have given me a deep understanding of the challenges that come with learning a new language. This has made me a more effective and empathetic teacher, as I can understand the perspectives of my students and tailor my teaching methods accordingly.

Having taught English in London and Brazil for 16 years I've gained substantial experience working with students from the widest variety of backgrounds. This has taught me the value of a flexible approach, which starts from where the student is at and is taught in a lexical approach to learning.

As a private English teacher, I've had the pleasure of helping many individuals over the years. I've taught in South America, specifically in Brazil, working for multinational companies based in Porto Alegre. My experiences have given me the opportunity to work with students from diverse backgrounds, which I find incredibly rewarding. Now, based in London, I continue to assist students in improving their English language skills. The satisfaction of helping others and the diverse cultural experiences that come with being a private English teacher are some of the reasons why I love what I do.

I was trained in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) to pass the Test of English for International Communication (TOEIC) and acquired the Teaching of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) qualification.

My core teaching resource has its high quality accredited by the British Council and is published by the Oxford University Press.
This is the "English File" series. Supplementary material includes classic English comedy, films, London entertainment, sports magazines, periodics, and pronunciation tuition CD's.

My guiding principle is to keep the work student-centred and fun.
